Ukhrul DC orders Compulsory Anti-Rabies inoculation for Dogs

A 33-year-old woman in Ukhrul reportedly lost her life due to infection of rabies. She was bitten by an unknown dog.

Deputy commissioner of Ukhrul district, Joseph Pauline Kamson issued a notification on Wednesday directing all dog owners of Ukhrul district to compulsorily vaccinate their dogs with Anti-Rabies vaccine due to outbreak of rabies.

In addition, DC Ukhrul, informed dog owners to restrain their dogs from free movement outside their respective residences and that they shall be accountable for any untoward incident in the event of their failure to comply with the given instruction.

Furthermore, the District Veterinary Officer Ukhrul is instructed to organize anti rabies vaccination drive at the earliest.

The All Hunphun Tang Association (AHTA) had also informed all the Hunphun Tang to announce publicly the outbreak of Rabies during these months. Owners were informed to vaccinate their dogs and leash them.
