Ukhrul district reported 18 COVID-19 positive; total active case reaches 86

Amid rapid escalation of Covid-19 positive cases in Ukhrul district, the district yet again reported 18 positive cases on Sunday taking the total active cases to 86.

Out of the total 86 active cases, 19 cases has been reported from District Hospital Isolation Ward, 57 from Transit Covid Care Centre, 2 from Jessami Isolation Ward, 4 from Lambui Isolation Centre, 4 from Tongou Village Community Isolation Centre, while cumulative positive cases stand at 277 of which 159 are male and 118 are female.

Death toll surged to nine, according to district surveillance officer Ukhrul.

Kamjong district reported 3 news Covid positive cases.

Meanwhile, in view of the impending threats of the pandemic in the geographical areas that tested positive and to prevent spread of the disease, the district magistrate Ukhrul had declared three residences as containment zone with immediate effect. They are Vanaochon Varengnao W/o Phungmi of Seipet Zingsho Phungreitang, Ngalayar Phungshok D/o Jonah Phungshok, Wino bazaar Ukhrul, Sarda Devi W/o L Prasad Gupta, Wino bazaar and Pinky Store Wino Bazaar. While three residences declared containment zone, three persons have been discharged.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the district magistrate under Para 12 of the Manipur Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, district magistrate Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS had also sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the containment area and directed to initiate active surveillance of the Covid-19 cases.
