Celebrating Harmony: Ukhrul’s Hunphun, Hungpung Members Hold Friendly Football Match in Delhi

NEW DELHI: In a bid to promote and celebrate the spirit of love, unity, and harmony shared between Hunphun village and Hungpung village of Manipur’s Ukhrul district, members of the two villages residing in the National Capital held a friendly football match on Saturday. 

The event, organised by Hunphun Society Delhi and Thawaijao Hungpung Shimkhur Kazip Delhi, was held at The Aden in New Delhi. 

The event kicked off with an invocation by one of the village elders David L. Shimray of Hunphun village.

Addressing the gathering, Shimray emphasized that Hunphun and Hungpung villages are recognised as pioneers of education in the Tangkhul community, having laid the foundation for promoting literacy during the community’s formative years.

The event witnessed the participation of more than 100 members, including youths, elders and children, making the occasion vibrant and memorable. The friendly football match generated great enthusiasm and excitement among both participants and spectators alike, followed by a fellowship dinner and a lottery game.

The event also served as an important platform for members of the two villages to interact, strengthen mutual ties, and promote greater understanding and fellowship within the community, thereby further reinforcing the spirit of friendship, unity, and togetherness among all attendees.
