Chandel, April 12: Towards expanding its regional presence, Ukhrul Times inaugurated its new satellite office in Chandel headquarters, Chandel District, on Saturday with a commitment to delivering grassroots-level local news and amplifying voices from remote and underrepresented communities across the district.

The inauguration ceremony, held at 7:30 AM, was marked by a simple gathering, featuring blessings and short speeches from community leaders, joined by esteemed journalists from across Chandel, distinguished guests and well-wishers.

The program commenced with a welcome and introduction by Kh. Lungkim Chothe. This was followed by a blessing and invocation prayer led by Rev. John Thao, Pastor of Chumbang Baptist Church, invoking divine guidance for the new venture.

Delivering the keynote address, Db. Thamdok Francis, President of the Chandel Naga People’s Organization (CNPO), stressed on the importance of strengthening media presence in the district to promote transparency, dialogue, and local representation.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including, Ts Ruwngwar, President of the Naga Chiefs’ Association Chandel (NCAC); Bungpen, General Secretary of the Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC); Js Angam, Chairman of the Maha Area Chiefs Association, along with fellow members; and representatives from the Japhou Bazar Board.

The inaugural event ended with a light breakfast.
