Ukhrul: The 1st open 8-Ball pool championship in Ukhrul District held from November 6 at Gracias Restaurant in collaboration with Ukhrul District Tribal Development Council concluded with grand finale on November 7.

Thothaimi Samshok bagged the 1st single champion in 8-Ball pool championship and Ngayeimi Huishuwo clinched 2nd position in single category.

Hangshing Vasah of Halang village and Thothaimi Samshok of Ukhrul were the winner of the double category 8-Ball pool championship.

Seven participants competed in the single category and two teams in the double category.

Ngakuimiza Asai, BJP intending candidate 44-Ukhrul AC, Khathing Luiram intending candidate ADC Nungbi attended the championship as special guests. They extended financial assistance in the event to support the youth in organizing and hosting more of such events. Ningam Chamroy BJP intending candidate for 45-Chingai AC also supported the event and extended financial assistance.

Shimri Raising, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong president also attended the entire event supporting the host in organizing the pool championship.

Pool Championship 2021 Ukhrul

“The primary aim and objective of this event is to promote competitive pool and other sports beyond football, volleyball and badminton. We should start organizing more sport activities like table tennis, 8-Ball pool and even basketball in days to come to certain level where we can someday host a tournament in Ukhrul on a district or state level”, said one of the organizers.

Nobert Khayi, event manager and Ngayeimi Huishuwo Proprietor of Gracias Restaurant extended their sincere gratitude and all the well wishers for their unconditional support as well as young artist and to all the audience for their presence and support in making the 1st 8-Ball pool championship a successful one.
