UNC & COCOMI Condemn ‘cold blooded murder’ of Marangir Chiru

SENAPATI, JULY 17: In a joint statement, the United Naga Council (UNC) and the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of MS. Marangir Chiru from Kangchup Chiru village on July 15, by unidentified armed miscreants.

Ng. Lorho, President of UNC, and Th. Somorandro, Coordinator of COCOMI, expressed their deep sorrow and outrage over this inhumane act of violence against an innocent civilian, stating that the entire community is aghast and deeply saddened by the loss of such a precious life.

COCOMI expressed their regret over the incident, acknowledging their moral responsibility and showing utmost concern for the victim’s family and the community. They assured their full cooperation to resolve the matter amicably.

The two Naga and Meitei apex civil organizations extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones, assuring them of their solidarity during this difficult time. Both bodies have called for justice for the victim and his family, urging the authorities to apprehend the culprits and thoroughly investigate this heinous crime. They emphasized the importance of bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the future security and welfare of the victim’s family.

The matter has been resolved amicably as per Naga Customary Law. Both organizations appealed to the communities to refrain from further escalation related to this unfortunate incident. They once again fervently called on all concerned parties to maintain peace and tranquility among the communities in the coming days.
