Talks Between UNC and Governor Bhalla to Continue Amid Border Dispute

Imphal, August 16: The United Naga Council (UNC) held a meeting with the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, today to deliberate on the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and border fencing.

The delegation articulated their concerns and urged the Governor to intervene by taking up the matter with the Government of India. In response, the Governor informed the UNC that the issue had already been raised with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Emphasizing the importance of restraint, Governor Bhalla appealed to the Council to maintain peace while dialogue continues. He further underlined that, as the border issue falls under the jurisdiction of the central government, the participation of central representatives is essential for meaningful progress.

It was agreed that both sides would reconvene within three days for the next round of discussions.
