UNC Mourns the Passing of Brigadier Yarchung Zingkhai, Hails His Legacy

Ukhrul, June 8: The United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed profound grief over the passing of Brigadier Yarchung Zingkhai, a revered Naga army officer, who breathed his last at around 5 PM on June 6, 2025, at Zion Hospital, Dimapur.

In an official condolence message, UNC described Brigadier Yarchung as an extraordinary individual whose humility and simplicity endeared him to all. Responding to the call of duty in his teenage years, Brig. Yarchung rendered decades of selfless service to the Naga cause, playing a vital role in navigating multiple crises faced by the Naga people.

“His journey was arduous, traversing through thick and thin, and yet he silently kept things in order,” the statement noted. “His undaunted sacrifices, dedication, and commitment will be remembered in the golden pages of the Naga struggle for freedom from forced subjugation.”

UNC President NG. Lorho acknowledged the deep sorrow faced by Brig. Yarchung’s family, friends, and loved ones, calling the loss one of life’s most profound sorrows. The Council prayed for strength and peace for the bereaved family and expressed hope in the Christian belief of eternal reunion.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the message concluded, with the traditional salutation: Kuknalim.
