Senapati, September 9: The Trade Embargo called by the United Naga Council (UNC) over the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the construction of border fencing commenced at midnight of September 8.
It may be mentioned that the UNC has been demanding the reinstatement of the FMR and an immediate halt to the ongoing construction of the border fencing. Earlier, the UNC held a dialogue with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, along with representatives of the Government of Manipur in New Delhi. However, the talks failed to reach a breakthrough.
