Unidentified Miscreants Disturb Interaction Programme of Alfred K Arthur at TK Woodland

Ukhrul: An interaction programme with Alfred Kanngam Arthur, an intending Member of Parliament candidate for the 18th Lok Sabha polls from the Indian National Congress (INC), was organized on Monday at TK Woodland by like-minded individuals and well-wishers. It is reported that there was a disturbance as the meeting abruptly ended, with gunshots heard from the western side of the venue. Unknown miscreants shot multiple blank fire, prompting a response from police personnel present at the venue. No reports of injury or casualties has been reported.

Despite the interjection, the meeting resumed and concluded as planned.

OC of Ukhrul PS, Chuingam Ningshen, informed this correspondent that “at around 2:15 pm, when the meeting was about to conclude, gunshot was fired from the western side of the venue by an unknown miscreants. The Ukhrul Police personnel stationed at the venue retaliated by blank firing in the air for a minute, after which the shooting from the western side ceased. Despite this incident, the meeting continued and concluded as planned.”

“It was not an election campaign but an interaction programme, irrespective of party or organization, with Alfred Kanngam Arthur, the intending MP candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024. The lecture and interaction programme were organized by like-minded individuals and groups,” stated one of the attendees who wished to stay anonymous.

The meeting was initially scheduled to be held at Nungbi Khullen but was shifted to TK Woodland Resort, Shirui, at the last minute. The venue change took place about 25 km from Ukhrul Headquarters.
