Union Minister Discusses Food Security and Consumer Affairs with Meghalaya Governor

Shillong, Feb 19: Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya discussed food security issues with the Meghalaya Governor today.

During the meeting, Governor CH Vijayashankar, and the Union Minister discussed various issues related to consumer affairs, food security, and public distribution in the North-East region, a Raj Bhavan source said.

The discussions also touched upon the implementation of central schemes aimed at ensuring food security and strengthening the public distribution system in Meghalaya.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of the Ministry in streamlining consumer welfare initiatives and ensuring equitable distribution of essential commodities across the country.

He also highlighted the need for enhanced cooperation between the central and state governments to address region-specific challenges in Meghalaya.

Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya expressed her gratitude to the Governor for the warm reception and assured continued support from the central government in strengthening consumer affairs and food distribution mechanisms in the state, the Raj Bhan source added.
