Union Minister Suresh Gopi Visits Niuland, Urges Faster Development in Nagaland

Dimapur, Apr 9: Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi said today that Nagaland should have been positioned better than what it is today. The Union minister stated that Nagaland has a huge and wide scope for tourism and its resources but there are some constitutional and revenue issues that need to be addressed. The Union minister then appealed to work together, deliberate and assess the capacity works that the department and the officials have put forward to have rapid action schemes in the days ahead.

The Union minister said this while visiting Niuland near Dimapur in Nagaland this afternoon.

The Union minister during his visit to Niuland district held discussions with various departments and interacted with the leaders of civil societies.

The Union minister held intense deliberation and discussed with the department officers in regard to the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes on the ground and advised them to speed up the remaining schemes that are yet to be implemented.

Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, Sara S Jamir in her welcome address, said that Niuland is a new and underdeveloped district, and the presence of the Union minister in the district is the manifestation of his true commitment to reaching out to the unreached people and bringing development to the door steps of aam aadmi in the grassroots level.

Power-points on various centrally sponsored schemes were presented by the departments of PHED, DRDA, Agriculture, Mission Vatsalya, Industries and Commerce and School Education.

The President of the Niuland District Gaonburas Association and Niuland Area Citizens Forum also spoke at the program and handed over their respective representations to the Minister.

Later, the Union minister visited Government High School Nito at Nikhekhu village and interacted with the school authorities and students. The program was chaired by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, S Athsangla.
