United Khawzim Brothers lift CDSA Golden Jubilee trophy; MP Alfred Arthur graces occasion

Lamka, October 11: The final match of the Churachandpur District Sports Association’s (CDSA) Golden Jubilee Open Football Tournament 2025 was held today at the Lamka Football Ground, Hiangtam Lamka, Churachandpur district. The thrilling encounter saw United Khawzim Brothers (UKB) face off against Dynamic Football Academy (DFA), where the former lifted the trophy after a tense penalty shootout. The shootout became necessary as both sides failed to score during regulation time. UKB claimed the champion’s trophy, which carried a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.

The final match, organised as part of the CDSA Golden Jubilee celebrations, was graced by Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur, MP (Lok Sabha) of the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, as the Chief Guest; L. M. Khaute, MLA of Churachandpur AC, as the Functional President; and Khaan Vaiphei, CEO of Chikim Group, as the Chief Host. On the occasion, the Chief Guest unveiled a plaque commemorating the Golden Jubilee of CDSA at the Phungkhothang Guite Stand of the Lamka Public Ground.

In his address, MP Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur expressed his delight at being part of the celebration and lauded the efforts of the CDSA. He reaffirmed his commitment to stand for the people of Churachandpur and emphasized the importance of truth and integrity.

Functional President L. M. Khaute also praised the CDSA’s efforts, expressing happiness over the growing participation of local youths in national-level football leagues. He further informed about his initiative to install artificial turf at Lamka Public Ground and to upgrade other sporting facilities in the district, a proposal he had submitted to the Centre through the Government of Manipur during 2022–23.

During regulation time, UKB maintained clear dominance on the field but failed to convert opportunities into goals. In the second half, DFA mounted several counterattacks, creating three promising chances that went unconverted, pushing the match into penalties. Ultimately, the state league club UKB emerged victorious.

The tournament, jointly organised by CDSA and Chikim Group, featured 16 football clubs and spanned over a month. Muankhanlian from Happy Feet Football Academy was the top scorer of the tournament with six goals, while Williams Neihsial of UKB was named Best Player, and Jason Vaiphei, also from UKB, received the Best Goalkeeper award. Each winner was presented with cash prizes and citations.
