UKHRUL: In an official public notification, the Kuki Inpi Manipur has stated that an organisation operating under the name “United Kuki Council” is neither mandated nor recognised by the Kuki community.
The clarification follows resolutions adopted during the Hengbung Assembly and later reaffirmed in a subsequent one-day assembly of the apex body. According to these resolutions, any organisation formed or functioning without the mandate of the people will not be acknowledged as a legitimate representative of the Kuki society.
The statement expressed concern over the rise of such unauthorised groups, describing their emergence as harmful to the unity and collective interests of the community. It warned that the proliferation of such bodies could lead to confusion and undermine the social cohesion of the Kuki people.
In light of this, the public, civil society organisations, and government agencies have been urged not to extend any form of support, cooperation, or recognition to the entity calling itself the “United Kuki Council.” The organisation has been formally disowned and directed to cease and disband its activities with immediate effect.

Additionally, media organisations, press bodies, and social media platforms have been requested not to publish or circulate any statements or communications issued in the name of the group, as it does not represent the Kuki community in any capacity. The announcement has been issued in what the apex body described as the larger interest of maintaining unity, order, and clarity within the Kuki society.
