UKHRUL: Following the recent visit of Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh to Jiribam, the Joint Tribe Students’ Association (JTSA) has condemned the Chief Minister’s visit to Leingangpokpi Police Outpost, terming it an egregious lapse in responsibility and blatant disregard for the sentiments of the people of Tousem Sub Division, Tamenglong District.
In a press statement, the JTSA, which is a conglomeration of All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU), Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi – Manipur (LNKR-M), Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization Manipur (RNSOM), and Zeme Students’ Organization Manipur (ZS0M), stated that despite their memorandum and repeated entreaties, the Chief Minister proceeded with the visit to the ‘disputed’ Leingangpokpi Police Outpost. “This action manifests disregard for the district’s territorial jurisdiction and constitutes a direct affront to the very existence and identity of the communities within JTSA’s jurisdiction and beyond,” it says.

The JTSA demands that the Government of Manipur provide unequivocal clarification addressing the issue, within a week, commencing from 06-04-26. “Failure to furnish a satisfactory response will be construed as a deliberate attempt to subvert the rights and interests of all diverse communities in the said jurisdiction, precipitating the JTSA to mobilize mass agitation and other drastic measures to safeguard the sovereignty of our districts, especially Tousem Sub Division, Tamenglong,” it warns.
Further, the student body cautions the government that any unilateral attempt to alter the district boundaries without the explicit consent of the people will be met with resolute resistance and that it will not hesitate to disrupt National Highways and National Projects within its jurisdiction to assert the rights and interests of the people.

“At this critical juncture, as the people of Tamenglong and Noney await resolution to the long- pending issue with bated breath, the JTSA, on behalf of the entire populace, appeals to the State Government, led by Shri Y Khemchand Singh, to address the grievance in accordance with the pre-existing District administrative records, predating the creation of new districts,” it stated.
Additionally, the JTSA urges the public to remain resolute, united, and vigilant, standing in unison to safeguard our district’s existence and territorial integrity.
