United Naga Council condemns violence, appeals for peace

Senapati, May 4: The United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed displeasure to witness mob violence that occurred in different places of the State. The press release issued on Thursday said that the UNC has never encouraged nor endorsed any violent agitations or rallies apart from peaceful democratic means.

UNC further said it is deeply disturbed to see the happenings carried out by mobsters on the night of May 3, 2023 attacking innocent lives, homes, properties, churches, and other places of worship in the state.

“The UNC reminds to every ethnic community in the state, that such tragic incidents and consequences will heavily cost the people all and will be irreparable even to the next generation. Therefore, the UNC vehemently condemn such act of violence and the manners in which it has taken place till date,” it added.

The UNC then appealed to all the ethnic communities in the state to stay calm and refrain from further escalations. The state government is urgently urged to tactfully handle the situations and restore normalcy at the earliest, the release mentioned.
