UKHRUL: The Kuki CSO Working Committee (WCKCSOs), along with the Village Authority of Mongkot Chepu, held a solemn candlelight vigil on Sunday to honour BSF Constable Mithun Mandal of 170/A Battalion, who made the supreme sacrifice on April 10 while protecting the lives of villagers at Mongkot Chepu, a Kuki village adjoining the Litan bridge in Manipur’s Ukhrul district.
A silent procession from Mongkot Chepu Christian Church to the site of the incident was followed by a brief programme attended by village authorities of Mongkot Chepu, Church representatives, and organisations, including KSO-Ukhrul and Kuki Inpi-Ukhrul, reflecting unity in grief and gratitude, a statement read.

A one-minute silence was observed, and Pastor Thonngam Khongsai offered prayers for the bereaved family, the security forces deployed in the area and the Border Security Forces in particular.
WCKCSOs added that Constable Mithun Mandal’s courage and selflessness will forever be remembered with honour and defended with truth.
