WCYO’s 27th Biennial Sports Meet Commences; KG Kenye Stresses Unity

Ukhrul, Jan 7: The 27th Biennial Sports Meet of the Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO) commenced on 6th January 2025 at Jalukie Zangdi, with the Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Nagaland, K.G. Kenye, gracing the occasion as the Special Guest.

Addressing the gathering, K.G. Kenye highlighted the significance of unity within the Chakhesang community, asserting “Where there is unity, there is victory”. He stressed the importance of placing God at the center of all endeavors, emphasizing that breakthroughs and victories are possible only through His divine grace.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by the forefathers in building a strong community in the western regions, the Minister encouraged fostering peace and maintaining communal harmony with neighboring villages for continued progress and peaceful coexistence.

K.G. Kenye further underscored that unity is a vital foundation for cultivating effective leadership, cautioning that “forfeiting unity can lead to downfall”. He added, “The presence of peace and unity within our community is the way forward to excel beyond expectations”. He urged the Chakhesang community in the western areas to be ambassadors of these unique values.

Commending the efforts of the WCYO in organizing the 27th Biennial Sports Meet, the Minister pointed out the vast opportunities in the field of sports, stating that commitment and perseverance can pave the way for success. He affirmed that winning should not be the ultimate goal; instead, participating with a good team spirit should take precedence, laying the foundation for greater achievements where “the sky is the only limit”.

The program began with Vesakho Tetseo as the chairperson, while Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, Senior Pastor of CBC Diphupar, invoked God’s blessings. WCYO President Mr. Wekupe Therie delivered the welcome address, and the President of Phek District Sports Association, Mr. Nezosa Tetseo, delivered the greeting message.

Short speeches were also delivered by Bedusai Thuluo, VCC of Jalukie Zangdi, and Dr. Chisoi Khusoh, President of Western Chakhesang Hoho.

With 17 units participating in the event, the 27th Biennial Sports Meet of the Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation will conclude on 11th January 2025. The Closing Ceremony will have the MLA and Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, as the Guest of Honor.
