Ukhurl, October 19: The Naga Tribe Hohos (NTHs) and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) held a meeting at Hotel Japfu in Kohima on Saturday and reaffirmed the shared commitment to the “Naga essential”. They also declared that no new political factions will be accepted.
“Recognizing the weight of history and the urgency of unity, the meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to the Naga essential; the historical and political rights of the Naga people. It was voiced with clarity and conviction that no Naga Political Group (NPG) shall self-isolate from this essential, for to do so would be to hurt the sacred journey of the Naga people,” the FNR stated in a release.
The meeting also declared that the NTHs, NPGs, or the FNR will not accept the formation of new Naga political factions, saying that “fragmentation is a departure from the path of reconciliation,” the release stated.

The meeting, which was held “in the spirit of sacred trust and communal responsibility” followed 16 prior gatherings held between January 14 and September 27, 2025, involving the NTHs, Naga Political Groups (NPGs), and the FNR.
“It was unanimously affirmed at the meeting that each Naga Tribe Hoho is the apex body of its respective tribe, and as such, no other forum or body may supersede the authority of the Tribe Hoho. This affirmation safeguards the integrity of tribal representation and honors the ancestral mandate entrusted to each Hoho,” FNR stated.
“With deep empathy and yearning, the meeting deliberated on the Naga family of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO). While acknowledging ENPO’s fully legitimate aspirations for socio-economic-political flourishing, the gathering appealed, with deep sense of needs of our emerging Naga family to support the Journey of Common Hope, and a gentle summon to walk together,” the FNR stated.
According to the release, following resolutions were made at the October 18 meeting:
1. With Gratitude to the NPGs for Their Magnanimity
The NTHs and the FNR encourage and urge the NPGs to meet frequently and intentionally, in order to converge on the Naga rights and nurture a common Machang.
2. Humbling Before the Baby Jesus in a Manger
The meeting resolved to hold an Advent Program on Sunday, November 30, 2025, as a gesture of spiritual humility and communal renewal. The venue and program shall be worked out by the FNR in consultation with the NTHs and the NPGs.
“This declaration is offered in the spirit of covenant, not mere minutes. May it serve as a lamp for the path ahead, and a gentle summons to walk together,” the FNR added in its release issued on October 18, 2025.
