Woman involved in drug smuggling held from Lengpui Airport Mizoram

Aizwal: A 25-year-old woman who was under the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) wanted list, alleged to be involved in drug-smuggling was arrested by Mizoram police on Friday.

The woman who was held from Lengpui Airport is identified as Sabbathhlui, a resident of Bawngkawn neighbourhood in Aizawl.

Sabbathhlui has been under the wanted list in connection with the recent recovery of 3900 kg of poppy seeds, 4.1 lakh sticks of foreign cigarette and cosmetics worth Rs 1.5 crore from her home, Mizoram police tweeted.

Based on specific inputs, the security forces nabbed the offender upon her arrival from Kolkata on Friday, through an IndiGo flight led by Deputy SP, Victor and airport security. The arrested woman was handed over to the DRI for further legal action, informed an officer.
