WTR Warns Against Illegal Poppy Cultivation

Ukhrul: The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), has issued a strict warning against poppy cultivation in the Wung Tangkhul region.

The order stated that “…all concerned Village Authorities under Wung Tangkhul Region that Cultivation/Plantation of Poppy is strictly Banned/Prohibited under Wung Tangkhul Region.

“This order has to be strictly implemented by the concern Village Authorities. Any individual found violating this order shall be reported to the undersigned Office by the Village Authorities immediately without fail,” stated the order issued by Secretary, WTR, GPRN.

Non Compliance to this order, WTR said, shall be treated as willful defiance, which will necessitate:

  1. Impose a heavy fine with imprisonment.
  2. Concerned individual/Family will destroy the poppy plantation in their own under the supervision of Wung Tangkhul Region Staff.
  3. Defaulters will bear all the expenses to be incurred for the implementation of this order.

Acknowledging the danger and damage it could cause to the society, the order has been issued. The people in general welcome the order issued by WTR.
