Wunghon Village Headman leads the way in Vaccination

Free Vaccination cum Awareness Program was conducted Saturday at Wunghon Village, Ukhrul District, by Covid-19 Awareness and Enforcement Committee of the 44/AC Ukhrul in collaboration with the Wunghon Village Covid Task Force. The program was attended by Christian Home SDO Ukhrul, David Kashung ADC Ukhrul, Graceson Varu EO Ukhrul, Dr AS Kapangring CMO District Hospital, Ukhrul accompanied by 5 Medical doctors, nurses and Para- medical staffs.

Mr. Sweeten Raihing, the headman of Wunghon village took his 1st dose of vaccination on Saturday along with 43 villagers. Around 90 People from New Canaan, Mayophung, Leiyaram, Muirei and Wunghon participated in the program. A total of 196 people were vaccinated in Ukhrul district. The culminative number of vaccinated in the district stands at 21,295.

Mr Kashung said that no one should take the hard work done by the Medical team for granted. He encouraged the participant to listen carefully to the doctors and spread the right information.

CMO in his address to the villagers said that they came to clarify the misunderstandings looming in the society. First wave of Covid-19 was all about quarantine and maintaining SOP; Second wave of 2021 is more severe and it is mostly about Oxygen; Third wave could be worst and it will not even spare the children. He also added that no one is being forced but all are asked to responsibly decide if they should get vaccinated. He further asked how long can we keep wearing mask, maintaining SOP or tolerate curfew/lockdown. There is an option and that is to get vaccinated. The medical team clarified on the many misunderstanding at the end of the program.

Mr Wungreiyo Wungmarong, the program conductor, expressed his gratitude to the District Administration and Medical Department for reaching out to the unreached.
