109 Bn CRPF Empower Local Youth with Specialized Tailoring Training

SENAPATI: In a significant stride towards regional self-reliance and skill development, the closing ceremony of a 30-day Specialized Tailoring Training programme, presided over by DIG CRPF Ops Kangpokpi, K Savilei (president AHWCS), successfully concluded at Senapati in the presence of Commandant 109 Bn CRPF, Karong village chairman and representatives from the Ashu Co-operative Society. 

The initiative was organized under the Civic Action Programme by the 109 Bn CRPF in collaboration with the Ashu Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society (AHWCS).

The DIG, Ops Kangpokpi and Commandant 109 Battalion, CRPF also formally inaugurated the Lower Khabung village community hall. The facility underwent extensive renovation spearheaded by 109 Battalion CRPF under the Civic Action Programme (CAP). The initiative was undertaken to improve local infrastructure and strengthen the relationship between the security forces and the regional population.

Another 30-day tailoring training programme, held in collaboration with Jireh Society of Sustainable Livelihood and Organic Farmers, concluded successfully at Tunggam Afii village in Senapati district, Manipur.

The function was graced by dignitaries, including Commandant 109 Battalion as the Chief Guest; M Sheveine, SDO/BDO Paomata as the Guest of Honour; Officer Commanding A/109 Bn CRPF, chairman and secretary of Tunggam Afii, women chairperson and secretary of Tunggam Afii, president and secretary of youth & students organization of Tunggam Afii, villagers and trainees from Tunggam Afii village, under Paomata subdivision, District Senapati, Manipur.

Addressing the gathering, DIG CRPF Ops KPI emphasized the role of vocational skills in regional stability, stating, “By equipping our local youth with professional tailoring skills, we are stitching the fabric of a more resilient and self-reliant society”. 

Commandant 109 Bn further emphasized that the partnership was designed to empower local artisans to drive the regional economy with confidence and professional expertise.

The ground-level execution and seamless coordination of the 30-day programme were spearheaded by officers, including the Commandant and personnel of A/109 and B/109 Bn CRPF. 

The initiative concluded with distribution of certificates and sewing machines to all trainees. As these 45 trainees embarked on their journey, the 109 Bn CRPF reaffirmed their commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Manipur. By fostering tangible skills, the unit continues to weave a future defined by dignity, economic independence, and lasting peace.
