11 girls trafficked from a Bru refugee camp located in Northern Tripura were rescued by the Tripura police.

The group of girls included 9 minor girls were supposed to work as maids in rich households.

Sangeeta Barui, from East Agartala Childline, said, “We have conducted a medical examination of the girls and will forward to shelter. We have also received a tip-off on other minors working in houses in Agartala from which, we will rescue those children soon.”

The girls were rescued by the police while they were at the Chandrapur Inter State Bust terminal of Agartala. They were being led by a man who was arrested by the police.

Sangeeta Barui said that her team had received a complaint about a man who was accompanied by the 11 girls. Before the child-line workers could reach there, the locals handed over the man to the police who was then brought to the Child Welfare office of East Agartala.
