SENAPATI: The 16 Assam Rifles on Wednesday provided essential relief materials to more than 30 displaced people currently staying at the Emesiiphro Community Hall in Senapati.
The displaced people, including those from Tapon, Makui and other affected areas, have been taking shelter at the community hall following the recent violence, including an ambush and burning of houses in their villages.
The relief materials provided by the Assam Rifles included 95 kg of rice, 15 kg of sugar, 8 kg of salt, 2 kg of coffee, 1 kg of tea, 10 litres of refined oil, 28 litres of milk and 25 kg of another essential item.
During the visit, Assam Rifles personnel interacted with the displaced people and heard about their difficulties and immediate needs at the relief centre.
The personnel assured them that they would try their best to extend further assistance. They also informed the displaced people that the Assam Rifles would continue visiting the relief centre and provide additional relief materials based on their requirements and grievances.
The visit comes as more than 30 people remain sheltered at the community hall after being forced to leave their homes amid the recent incidents of violence in the area.
