25 bombs believed to be those of World War II period recovered in Manipur

A total of 25 bombs believed to be those of World War II period were recovered in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Wednesday.

The recovered bombs were two hand grenades, eight lathod bombs, five two-inch mortar bombs and ten bombs similar to lathod bombs. Some rounds of live ammunition were also recovered, a police source said. 

As per the police source, the bombs were recovered while digging earth for construction of a septic tank in the land belonging to one Suraj Pradhan at Lower Kalapahar under Kangpokpi police station.

Police who rushed to the spot on being informed retrieved the recovered bombs and deposited them in the custody of the police station for further investigation, the source added.
