2nd HAOFUREVER: TWUG’s Northeast Football League Kicks Off in Goa

UKHRUL: The 2nd Edition of the HAOFUREVER, the Tangkhul Naga Welfare Union Goa (TWUG) Northeast Football League, kicked off on Tuesday at the NFA Nagoa Futsal Arena in Saligao, Goa under the theme “Victory Through Unity”.

The opening ceremony witnessed a grand celebration of sportsmanship and community bonding. Hosted by  Wungraizan Haoshimwung the programme proceeded with the official introduction of the participating teams and the event partners who helped make the league possible. A special presentation ceremony recognized the sponsors, the Chief Guest, and the event partners for their invaluable contributions.

Abhimanyu Kore, Ground Manager of the arena officially kicked off the tournament as Chief Guest Ricardo Cardoza (Owner of the NFA Nagoa Futsal Arena) failed to turn up due to unavoidable work emergency.

On Tuesday, the opening match saw FC Porvorim Tang face off against Assam FC, with FC Porvorim Tang emerging victorious with a dominant 13-6 scoreline. 

Hashokmi Longpinao (Jersey No. 17) of FC Porvorim Tang was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’.

In the second match of the night, Goa Mizo Welfare FC defeated Chocolatti FC 8-4. Joseph Lalrintluanga (Jersey No. 4) of Goa Mizo Welfare FC took home the ‘Player of the Match’ honors for his standout performance.

The league will continue till May 12.

Winner of the tournament will walk away with a prize money of Rs 50,000 and a trophy, Runners-up will get richer by Rs 20,000. There will be awards for Best Player, Best Defender, Best Goalkeeper of the League, and Player of the Match for every game.

Participating teams include Star Pond FC, RAMSA FC, FC Tangkhul, Chocolatti FC, Goa Mizo Welfare FC, Goa Manipuri Meitei Association FC, Panjim Warrior FC, FC Porvorim Tang, Assam FC, Nagaland FC, Northeast Pilar FC, and SNIP United FC.
