3 Myanmarese escape from temporary jail in Churachandpur district

Imphal: At least three Myanmar nationals who were kept in temporary jail in Manipur’s Churachandpur district were escaped on Sunday.

As per sources report, the incident took place at Sadbhavna Mandap, a temporary detention center, at around 8 am in the morning.

The three Myanmar nationals identified as Wimnintay, Win Naing Thon and Biaka were detained under the Foreigners Act for illegally entering India and were kept at the temporary detention center in Churachandpur district.

According to police report, Wimnintay and Thon were lodged in the temporary jail since April 4, 2021, while Biaka had been at the jail since March 29, 2022.

The three Myanmar nationals were found missing from their cell by the jail authorities during their daily rounds.

While a search has been launched by the police to nab them, so far no traces of them.

A case has been registered against them under Sections 224 (Obstruction to lawful apprehension) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code, informed the police.
