UKHRUL, AUG 10: Thirty-five youths from Ukhrul participated in a three-day residential MY Bharat Leadership BootCamp organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) from August 8 to 10 at the District Youth Skilling Center.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of A.C. Worchipem, deputy director, whose guidance and support facilitated the conduct of the camp.
The BootCamp focused on leadership, career development, democratic participation, financial literacy, digital awareness and community engagement, providing participants with practical exposure beyond classroom learning.

T. Themreiyo Awungshi, general manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), spoke on flagship government schemes, familiarising the participants with government initiatives and opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, employment and skill development.
A session on career readiness and guidance was conducted by Peacemoon Zimik, managing director, Career Pathfinder. He stressed the importance of preparing for the changing world of work, making informed career choices and appearing for competitive examinations to improve employment opportunities after graduation.
Dr. Thingminao Horam, assistant professor, Sentinel College, addressed the participants on democratic leadership and personality development. The session focused on confidence-building, communication, responsibility and respect for democratic values.
Financial literacy was covered by Wiley YR, social activist, who highlighted the importance of savings, financial planning, money management and responsible financial decision-making among young people.
Masopam Kasar, NSS programme officer, St. Joseph College, Ukhrul, conducted a session on digital literacy, community mobilisation and engagement. He emphasised responsible use of digital platforms and their potential to create awareness, mobilise communities and contribute to social change.
The democratic role of youth was further explored through a session on Youth Parliament and Youth and Nation Building by Grace Dear Kasar, assistant professor, IGNTU Regional Campus, Manipur. The session familiarised participants with democratic institutions and encouraged them to view themselves as active participants in the democratic and developmental process.
The programme also included group discussions, a mock Parliament, yoga, experience-sharing and problem-solving exercises. These activities encouraged participants to communicate, work collectively, listen to differing viewpoints and make decisions as a team.
The mock Parliament provided participants with practical exposure to democratic debate, while discussions based on real-life conflict situations encouraged them to analyse problems and explore possible solutions. The exercises highlighted the importance of communication, empathy, patience, negotiation and peaceful conflict resolution.

The residential format also enabled participants to interact closely, exchange experiences and build new friendships while gaining exposure to different perspectives.
Participants said the interaction with resource persons and the activity-based sessions gave them a better understanding of leadership, career opportunities, financial management, democratic participation and their responsibilities towards society.
The BootCamp concluded on August 10, with participants taking home new knowledge, experiences and perspectives, along with greater confidence to contribute to their communities.
