3rd Phantu Volleyball Tournament: Phunchung, Cheengkhu, Tampi Crowned Champions

CHANDEL: The 3rd edition of the Phantu Volleyball Tournament came to an end on Saturday night after a week of high-octane volleyball matches at the Lambung Primary School Ground in Chandel with Phunchung, Cheengkhu and Tampi crowned champions in their own categories.

On a night that saw top quality volleyball matches, Phunchung Youth Club defended their title against the other finalist, Chakpikarong Youth Club, to be crowned the champion again in the Men’s category. For their victory, they were awarded a trophy along with cash; Kl. Phowlngam and Sr. Danny of Phunchung were declared the best spiker and setter respectively.

Though on the losing side, Sp. Joyngam of Chakpikarong was declared the Player of the Tournament.

In the Women’s category, Cheengkhu Youth and Cultural Club defeated Thungcheng Youth Club to be crowned the champion. RL. Hanna of Tampi was declared the Best Player of the Tournament while Wl. Wednahring and Rd. Sujani of Cheengkhu were declared the best spiker and setter respectively.

In the veteran category, Tampi defeated Cheengkhu and was crowned the champion in the said category. As for individual prizes, Ht. Bengam of Tampi was declared the Best Player of the Tournament in the veteran category. Ps. Basant of Tampi and Ts. Alpha of Cheengkhu were awarded as best spiker and setter respectively in the veteran category.

The finale, which began at 4 pm, went late into the night ending just an hour before midnight.

Hosted by Lambung Youth and Cultural Club, the Phantu Volleyball Tournament, held at the Inter Anal Level, is one of the fastest growing tournaments in the district with over 40 teams participating since its inception.
