Imphal: Six accused in the kidnapping and murder case of two Meitei students Phijam Hemanjit (20) from Takyel Kolom Leikai and Hijam Lingthoinganbi (17) from Tera Tongbram Leikai were arrested by combined force of CBI, Manipur Police and Central forces from Henglep in Churachandpur.
Four accused, according to sources have been identified as Paominlun Haokip, S Malsawn Haokip, Ms Lhingneichong Baite, Ms Tinnuphing and two other minors. Four of whom have been transferred to Guwahati by the CBI. Two other accused minors are detained in Imphal, sources added.

Amid the uproars, a special team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is handling the case of two teenage students led by its director Praveen Sood arrived in Imphal on Wednesday by a special flight.
Chief minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh took to X on Sunday and said, “some of the main culprits responsible for the abduction and murder of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi have been arrested from Churachandpur.”

N Biren speaking to ANI told that, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah had sent the Special Director of CBI along with some senior officers to Manipur and today with the support of the Indian Army, Paramilitary forces, Assam Rifles and State Police, we have arrested 4 accused from Churachandpur in this case. This is a huge achievement. I want to thank NIA, CBI and all Central forces…”
It may be mentioned that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested one Seiminlun Gangte from Churachandpur, in a case related to a transnational conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against the government of India by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in the State of Manipur, a press release issues by NIA Saturday said.
