UKHRUL: Four Naga civilians were killed, one injured and another reported missing after suspected Kuki armed groups allegedly attacked Naga civilians along the Imphal-Tamei (IT) Road under Kangpokpi police station in Manipur this morning.
The incident occurred at around 8:30 am between Makui Ashang and Thanamba Naga.
According to sources, all four victims were shot at point-blank range and killed on the spot during the attack. Sources further alleged that the bodies of the Naga victims were cut with sharp knife, with their necks and head cut in a barbaric manner.

As per sources, those killed have been identified as Tadsongbou Ringkangmai, founder and principal of Right Path School, T. Khullen; Mariakdibou Wijunamai, executive member of Makui Youth Club; Japou MK, student leader, Thonglang Akutpa; and Anil Wijunamai, executive member of Makui Youth Club. Gaikamang Ringkangmai sustained injuries in the attack, while Wisobou Charenamai, chairman of the Chawangkining Village Authority, remains missing.
Following the killings, the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) called for the immediate shutdown of all shops and business establishments in Senapati district headquarters town in protest against the killing of the four Naga civilians along the IT Road.
The incident has triggered anger and tension in parts of Kangpokpi, Senapati districts and surrounding areas.
The killings come 106 days after six Liangmai Naga civilians were abducted and subsequently killed following the May 13 violence in Kangpokpi district.

It may be mentioned that on August 14, 2026, two Liangmai Nagas were killed at Langka (Niulong) Liangmai Naga village along the IT Road in Kangpokpi district, allegedly by Kuki armed groups. The deceased were identified as Wiriliangbou Chawang, 35, and Kawidinang Abonmai, 54. Two others, Maliangjinang Abonmai, 50, and Namthiulungbou Prinmai, 45, sustained injuries in the attack. The Langka Naga Village Authority reported that Kuki militants belonging to the KNF(P), a group under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, attacked the village at around 8:40 am.
