WE LIVE in a highly conscious age where even harming an animal or an insect is considered a crime. Yet, amid the ongoing conflict in Manipur, horrifying stories of unthinkable atrocities, brutality, savagery, and demonic gore have emerged, horrors so dreadful and appalling that the modern world shudders to hear them.
The tragedy that occurred in Manipur on May 13, 2026 is monstrous and beyond human imagination. On that fateful day, three Thadou religious leaders returning from a controversial meeting between the Kuki and Thadou communities regarding religious affairs were ambushed and killed by a militant group between the Kuki villages of Kotlen and Kotzim, areas heavily dominated by Kuki militants. It may be pointed out that the site of the incident is located close to an Assam Rifles camp.
Immediately after the unfortunate incident, the Kuki Inpi Manipur and the Kuki Students’ Organization issued strongly worded press statements falsely alleging that the act was perpetrated by the ZUF-Kamson group.

Without any evidence or confirmation, Leilon Vaiphei villagers under Leimakhong Police Station, Kangpokpi district, Manipur, abducted 18 innocent Nagas from Konsaram (Konsakhul) Naga village within an hour of killing the three Thadou leaders. Later, another two Naga villagers were also taken hostage by Kukis in Keithalmanbi under Sapormeina Police Station, Kangpokpi district, Manipur.
Subsequently, in retaliation, Naga villagers took six Kuki hostages in Kangpokpi district, Manipur. Later that same evening, Nagas in Senapati district, took another 24 Kuki hostages. However, two Kuki hostages were later released on humanitarian grounds due to their ill health.
Then, on May 15, 2026, 28 hostages, 14 each from the Naga and Kuki communities, were safely released through an exchange of hostages. The remaining 14 hostages were kept in the custody of the Nagas in Senapati and safely released on June 10, 2026.
The Nagas demonstrated restraint, humanity, and dignity over vengeance and released every hostage safe and sound, as testified by the Kuki hostages themselves.
However, what is shocking and horrifying is that six Naga male hostages were killed the same day they were abducted (May 13, 2026) in the most brutal and unthinkable manner. Their bodies were found chopped into pieces beyond recognition. One of the bodies was found without its head. All the bodies were mutilated and cut into pieces, as though humanity itself had been torn apart alongside them.

What is truly incomprehensible iswhat kind of hatred and fury consumed the Leilon Vaiphei villagers and Kuki militants that they had to butcher fellow Christians in the same manner animals are butchered? What darkness entered the hearts of men to make them tear apart fellow human beings without mercy, without compassion, and without even a trace of humanity? Were those hands that cut apart fellow human beings satisfied in their anger? Did the screams, pain, and helpless cries of fellow Christians finally avenge their rage?
How could human beings look into the eyes of their own brothers in faith and still carry out such horrifying cruelty? What kind of hatred burns so deeply that it turns men into butchers and strips away every last fragment of human conscience? Even the thought of such savagery sends shivers through the soul, for these were not enemies from distant lands, but fellow Christians with whom they preached brotherhood, forgiveness, and the name of God.
And yet, the horror does not end there.
What is even more shocking is that those female victims were afraid to speak out about the nightmare they endured at the hands of Kuki militants during their captivity, for fear of losing their husbands and loved ones who were still in the hands of the Kuki militants.
Today, they revealed the most horrifying nightmare any human being could imagine: they were forced to eat meat that did not taste like chicken, pork, beef, or any kind of meat they were familiar with.
Most tribal communities in Manipur consume different kinds of meat, domesticated animals as well as wild animals, for generations. Anyone familiar with such food can easily distinguish one taste from another. But this time, the kind of meat allegedly forced upon those women hostages was unimaginable, unbearable, and terrifying beyond words.
From the very day they were released, the victims revealed that they had been blindfolded even while being fed food. This raises a horrifying question: why would any human being be blindfolded while being made to eat food?
What was the meat that was offered to the women hostages? Why were they blindfolded when being forced to eat the strange meat?
And now the horrifying question echoes through the hearts of people: why were the bodies of the six innocent Naga male hostages chopped into pieces? Was the flesh of their spouses cooked and fed to their own wives?
What kind of inhuman act is this? What kind of hatred and cruelty could drive human beings to descend into such monstrous savagery against fellow Christian Nagas, people with whom they invoke the name of God and preach forgiveness, brotherhood, and humanity?
This kind of brutality did not simply sprout out of anger overnight. It was planted, nurtured, brainwashed, and fed into the minds of those who perpetrated such horrifying acts. It was Thangboi Kipgen, the leader of KNF (P), who ordered his cadres to carry out such an unspeakable and abominable act of savagery.

Since the beginning of the world, such horrifying gore and cruelty, where a husband was killed and his flesh allegedly fed to his own wife, is beyond human imagination. Is this the Christian spirit they preach? To torture, kill others, and allegedly feed their flesh to their own wives?
These barbaric acts are not only horrifying to the victims and their families; they shake the conscience of humanity itself. The pain, terror, helplessness, and cruelty behind such acts are beyond words. Even the darkest pages of human history struggle to contain the depth of such savagery.
The cries of the victims may fade into silence, but the horror of what happened on May 13, 2026, will continue to haunt the conscience of every human being who still believes in humanity, mercy, and the sanctity of life.
To forgive and forget lies in the hands of Naga leaders, but the nightmares, horrifying savagery, and brutality will not be forgotten by the Nagas in the years to come. The Kukis may have lobbied the World Baptist Alliance, CBCNEI, or MBC to ensure the safe and sound release of Kuki hostages, but will the general Naga public continue to wait in patience against such atrocities?
