SENAPATI: A combined team of security forces seized suspected brown sugar and arrested two alleged drug peddlers during a frisking and checking operation at the T. Khullen Naka Check Point in Senapati district on Sunday morning.
According to police, the operation was carried out by personnel of the Special Operation Team (SOT) of Senapati Police, Senapati Women Police Station, D-78 Battalion CRPF, and the Quick Action Team (QAT) of B-109 CRPF.
During the checking, a Tata Yodha vehicle (Registration No. MN06LA-3305) was intercepted. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 42 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar, weighing 530 grams, including the plastic packaging.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Helkho Kipgen (45), son of Paolal Kipgen, a resident of Keithelmanbi village in Kangpokpi district, and Hatneilhing Kipgen (40), wife of Tongsei Kipgen, a resident of Hengbung village in Kangpokpi district. Both were arrested after due legal formalities.

Police also seized the Tata Yodha vehicle, a green sack, two mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and a lady’s purse containing Rs. 5,000 in cash.
A case has been registered at Senapati Police Station, and further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
