4th Petuk Somabesh: Celebrating Food, Culture and Community Spirit in Agartala

UKHRUL: The 4th Edition of Petuk Somabesh emerged as one of Tripura’s most awaited gastronomic and cultural events, attracting thousands of visitors, food lovers, families, and youth from across Tripura. The five-day festival which concluded on December 25 marked an unforgettable celebration of food, culture, and community spirit in the heart of Agartala.

Presented by the Netaji Play Forum Centre and sponsored by Sunrise PURE, the grand culinary festival was organized as an initiative of Agartala Buzz and curated by Agartala Events For You, a venture of TOTELL. The event showcased a vibrant blend of local delicacies, regional flavors, innovative food concepts, and engaging cultural performances, making it a complete destination for entertainment and taste.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from food entrepreneurs, vendors, and brands, who brought a diverse range of cuisines under one roof – from traditional Tripuri dishes to popular street food and modern fusion offerings -the festival celebrated culinary diversity while promoting local talent and small businesses.

Adding to the grandeur were live performances, interactive sessions, and community engagements, which kept audiences enthralled throughout the event.

Moreover, the presence of eminent guests, social leaders, and representatives from various sectors further elevated the stature of the festival, reinforcing its role as a platform that connects people through food and culture.

Lauding the initiative, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, in his address said, “As part of its CSR initiative, supported by Sunrise PURE, Petuk Somabesh has organized a Food Safety & Hygiene Workshop for the street food vendors of Agartala, which is a commendable step towards ensuring public health and responsible food practices. The participation of nearly 1,500 performing artists and 48 food stalls reflects a strong commitment to community welfare, cultural promotion, and the empowerment of local talent. Such initiatives not only celebrate our rich food culture but also contribute meaningfully to social development.”

Meanwhile, Convener of Petuk Somabesh Arnav Chakraborty, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all partners, participants, vendors, performers, media associates, and visitors for their overwhelming support.
