53 Central security personnel among 83 new COVID-19 cases reported in Manipur

Of the 83 new COVID-19 cases reported in Manipur on Sunday, 53 of them are personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

A bulletin of the state Health department updated today at 5 pm saw detection of 83 new COVID-19 cases in the state upon testing of 1.947 samples in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate of the day was 4.3%.

Of these total new cases, 53 were CAPF personnel, said the bulletin while informing that of the 30 fresh cases from the general population, 13 were from Imphal West and 10 from Imphal East.

Two new cases each were reported from Thoubal and Tengnoupal district and one each from Bishnupur, Kakching and Churachandpur.

Significantly, nine out of the 16 districts of the state reported no fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

Adding the fresh cases, the overall infection tally of the state rose to 1,24,918 and the fatality toll to 1,962 with two more persons succumbing to the viral disease in the last 24 hours.

The fresh deaths were reported in Imphal West and Imphal East. Both persons had comorbidities and none of them had vaccinated, the Health department claimed.

On the other hand, 29 patients including four from home isolation were discharged upon recuperation on the day, taking the recovery tally of the state to 1,22,274. The recovery rate of the state stood at 97.88%.

The state has 682 active cases currently. The number included 52 persons diagnosed with the viral disease and in home isolation.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,644 people were vaccinated on Saturday, taking the total number of doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered in the state so far to 21,03,301.

Of these total, 12,69,817 were first doses while the remaining 8,33,484 were second doses, the Health department said.
