UKHRUL: The 54th edition of the WADYO Naga Wrestling Meet 2026, organised by the Western Angami ‘D’ Youth Organisation (WADYO), was held at Sechüma Village (Sechü Zubza) Kohima, featuring competitions in both Senior and Junior categories and celebrating the strength and legacy of traditional Naga wrestling.
Prasielie Pienyü, Chairman of the Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (NHHDCL), Government of Nagaland, attended the event as the special guest. In his address, he observed that today’s sportspersons demonstrate marked improvements in discipline, physical fitness, and personal upkeep compared to earlier generations.
He also underscored the state government’s continued initiatives to promote and modernise sports, particularly traditional Naga wrestling, which has earned recognition at national and international platforms. Encouraging the participants, he called upon the wrestlers to perform to their fullest potential and bring honour to themselves and the state.

In the Senior category, Neikerhezo Zhünyü of Sechü Zubza secured the top position, followed by Kedizelhou Zhünyü, also from Sechü Zubza. Thepfüsahu Kuotsu of Mengujuma claimed third place, while Neikhotso Nagi of Sechü Zubza finished fourth.
The Junior (Under-15) category was dominated by wrestlers from Sechü Zubza, with Metseilhoukho Zhünyü taking first place. He was followed by Thejasezo Sechü, Vikuosa Nipu, and Kevisekho Nagi in the subsequent positions.
