58-year-old woman from Ukhrul succumbs to COVID-19

In what could be the first fatality case under the COVID-19 second wave, a 58-year-old woman from Ukhrul passed away at Shija Hospital, Imphal due to COVID-19 on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as S Wondhar W/o Jerimiah, a resident of Sirarakhong village.

According to the medical report issued by Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt. Ltd., S Wondhar was brought to the emergency department on Thursday at 9 AM after she was tested Positive for SARS Cov-2, and was admitted in COVID-19 ICU ward.

The medical report confirmed that her condition deteriorated on Friday at 10:15 PM as she went into Cardiac arrest (Cardiogenic Shock). She was administered CPR according to protocols but was declared dead at 10:39 PM Friday, the report confirmed.

It has been reported that the husband Jeremiah is under critical condition at Shija Hospital.

Copy of the COVID-19 death medical report was handed over to District Commissioner, Ukhrul.
