5th Edition of Run Chandel Run Marathon Held

CHANDEL: The Assam Rifles, in association with the District Sports Association Chandel and Wisecrabs, organised the 5th edition of Run Chandel Run on Saturday under Operation Sadbhavana. 

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth, local residents and sports enthusiasts from across the district, promoting the spirit of fitness, unity and community engagement.

Held under the theme “Run Strong, Run Proud, Run Chandel Run,” the marathon aimed to encourage a healthy lifestyle while strengthening bonds between security forces and the local population.

 The event brought together participants from different age groups who competed with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

The marathon featured multiple categories including Below 16 years (5 km) for Boys and Girls, Open Category (5 km) for Male and Female, Open Category (10 km) for Male and Female, and Above 45 years (5 km) Dream Run for Male and Female. The 10 km race commenced from Heibunglok Village, while the 5 km race began from Thoruwl Turf. All races concluded at the District Sports Complex, Chandel Christian Village, where participants were welcomed by organisers and supporters.

More than thousand participants participated in the marathon, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for sports and fitness in the district. The first 1000 registered participants were provided free event T-shirts, which added to the excitement of the event. All finishers were awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their participation and determination.

Cash prizes were also awarded to the top performers in each category to recognise their outstanding performance. The winner of the 10 km Open Category received a cash prize of ₹10,000, while attractive prize money was awarded to the top three finishers across all categories.

The successful conduct of “Run Chandel Run” highlighted the continued commitment of Assam Rifles towards promoting youth engagement, sportsmanship and community development under Operation Sadbhavana. The event concluded on a positive note, encouraging participants and local residents to adopt healthy and active lifestyles.
