Imphal: Six years ago, on this very day, young Pravish Chanam from Uripok Achom Leikai, Manipur, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on the streets of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. His father Jugindro Chanam continues to await the truth about how his beloved son met his demise.

At the age of 22, Pravish went missing from a concert venue in Noida on September 8, 2017, and his lifeless body was discovered the following day, on September 9, 2017. Just four days later, the UP police proceeded to cremate Pravish’s body as ‘unclaimed’, following an autopsy, despite a missing complaint filed by his elder brother on record. The case took a significant turn when, due to widespread public demand for a proper investigation, it was eventually transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). However, even after six years, Pravish’s family and friends are expressingdisappointment over the delay in the CBI’s investigation into his death.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Pravish’s father, Jugindro Chanam, conveyed his disappointment but also maintained hope that the truth surrounding his son’s death would eventually come to light. He emphasised their unwavering commitment to seeking justice and the truth. “We will continue to fight for justice”, said Jugindro with a heavy heart.
