Imphal: A 61-year-old man was shot to injure on his leg in one incident, and in another incident, a hand grenade was planted at a private school in Manipur.
A police source said that the man identified as Mutum Ibungo Meitei (61) of Terakhong Maning Leikai was shot on his left leg by armed miscreants suspected to be cadres of a rebel groups at Akasoi village under Kumbi police station of Bishnupur district today, around 3.15 pm.
The injured person has been admitted to JNIMS (hospital), Imphal, for treatment, the police said.
The police registered a regular case for investigation to know the motive behind the shooting to injure the old man and perpetrators.

Regarding the second incident, unknown miscreants deposited a hand grenade at the gate of UNACO College at Khongman under Irilbung police station of Imphal East district today, around 1.30 pm.
The police said that the bomb wrapped in a black polythene bag was found placed at the gate of the college by some unknown persons.
On being informed about lying an unattended polythene in a suspicious manner, a team of Irilbung police station rushed to the spot and took up precautionary measures before calling out experts from the state police bomb detection and disposal squad.
Upon opening the bag, the experts found a hand grenade in a tiffin box. The hand grenade was safely removed and defused by the bomb squad team later, around 4 pm, the police added.
