Ukhrul: 7-Aside Futsal tournament jointly organised by the 4th edition of Shirui Lily State level festival Entertainment sub-committee and Araang League held a press conference Friday afternoon at DC office, Mini Secretariat.

In a meeting organised by the Board of State level Shirui Lily Festival 2022 held two weeks ago, five sub-committees were formed, namely, Entertainment, Cultural, Reception, Shirui Lily and District level coordination. The chairman for the entertainment sub-committee is Ram Muivah, MLA 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC and Chunglenmang Kipgen, ADM Ukhrul as the convener.

Chunglenmang Kipgen proposed sports activities such as Futsal (7-Aside), Body Building show and Marathon. The Entertainment sub-committee in this regard partnered with Araang League for Futsal to help manage man power and other related managements. Robert Meitei has been given the task for Body Building show. Robert will bring to stage around 10 body builders, in which two are Asian title holders, and four are world boxing champions. The third upcoming activity, Marathon, will be held in a full circle from Ukhrul town to Shirui village is managed by T-Coleve.

“I am a sports and music lover. Since Shirui Lily Festival is coming, I wanted to encourage some activity which involves sweating. My motive is simple, I want boys and girls to engage in activities that is good for their body,” said Kipgen. He further expressed his motivation to help engage youngsters in sports activities to keep them away from using intoxicants and drugs.

Chunglenmang Kipgen said his proposal of Araang League is because of the requisite skill and experience they have.

“Araang, in local language means Hornbill Bird. We are organizing this football, Futsal (7-Aside) tournament mainly because we want to promote football for our youngsters. The game of football is one of the most preferred sports discipline by the young people in Ukhrul, especially also in Manipur,” said Akui YR, president Araang League.

“We want to thank the chairman and the convener of the Entertainment sub-committee for giving us the privileged and a chance to organize Futsal,” added.

• Winner will be awarded 1 lakh with trophy
• 2nd runner’s up: Rs 50,000
• Two semi finalist: Rs 10,000 each
• Best Player: Rs 2000
• Top Scorer: Rs 2000
• Best Keeper: Rs 2000

Registration will open on: May 16, 2022
Last date of submission: May 21, 2022

Maximum expected teams: 16
