Amid high surged in daily detection of COVID-19 virus, Home department, government of Manipur on Wednesday has extended curfew for another seven days effective July 28 till August 3 in the entire areas of Manipur as the prevailing state situation demands stricter measures to contain the spread of virus.
The curfew which would come into immediate effect on Thursday has given relaxation to the following activities.
They are:
- Opening of insurance offices for three days from 10am to 2:30pm similar to previous case of banks.
- Inclusion of vegetables, fish, meat and grocery items for home delivery in e-commerce allowed earlier.
Relaxation is also being given to home delivery of cooked food by authorised delivery staff.
The Order issued by Dr. Rajesh Kumar chairman, state executive committee of the State Disaster Management Authority, who is also the Chief Secretary of the state has directed all deputy commissioners to issue necessary orders, and had also tasked superintendents of police to take necessary actions to implement the orders strictly.
On the other hand, Manipur reported 11 deaths and 1,165 positive cases on Tuesday. While Ukhrul and Kamjong district detected 10 and 5 new Covid-19 positive case respectively taking their total active figures to 82 and 68.
It may be stated that Manipur government had announced ten days total curfew from July 18 till July 27 in view of the wide prevalence of Delta Variant of Covid-19 in the state. The curfew was to end today.
Meanwhile, with adoption of immediate preventive and precautionary measures still required in Ukhrul district to break the chain of transmission of the widely prevalence of delta variant of Covid-19, District Magistrate of Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamsom has prohibited movement of people from their respective residences with immediate effect from July 28 till August 3 in the whole area situated within the revenue district of Ukhrul.
The DM Ukhrul has also directed all Sub-divisional magistrates as Incident Commanders, along with district Police officers to ensure that the above orders is strictly implemented in letter and spirit.
