Dolang Village, inhabited by Chiru tribe having 273 households with a total populations of 1,139 become the first ever fully vaccinated village in Noney district. The village with a total population of 1,139, the total number of people fully vaccinated stands at 765 (18 plus above years).
As stated by the Dolang Village Authority, Chairman Alen Thoitak on July 27, the villagers availed full vaccination and benefited from the mass vaccination drive. Out of 765 vaccinated, 236 people are 45 years above and 529 from the age group of 18 to 44 years. Only 374 people under 18 years are left unvaccinated, Chairman, Alen Thoitak informed.
The District Administration Noney in collaboration with District Health Society, Noney today organised a congratulation program to the Dolang Village Authority at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Noney for achieving 100% Covid-19 vaccination of adults (18+above) population. A certificate with a cash incentives was honoured and handed over to the Dolang Village Authority and Covid Task Force Committee by Robert Singh khestrimayum, Deputy Commissioner, Noney. The program was attended by Dr. Edwin Golmei, CMO/Noney, Dr. Jendum Golmei, DIO/Noney, Namlalung Gangmei,SDO/Noney, Village Authority leaders and other officials.
Speaking at the event, the DC of Noney said that every eligible people of Noney district should be vaccinated without delayed because only vaccination and proper maintaining SOPs can only prevent from the dreaded disease. Let every village of the district focus on vaccination and become a role model village like Dolang Village. Villagers should not believe in rumour and myths. Vaccination hesitancy and doubt should be removed from our society. By the end of August, the vaccinated drive is targeted to reached 80%. As of now, Noney district has achieved 45% in Covid vaccination.
The chairman of Dolang village Authority, Alen Thoitak thanked the District Administration and District Health Society for recognising their dedicated services towards Covid pandemic. He encouraged other neighbouring villages to go forward for vaccination drive and set an example, and to become a Covid free village. He further appealed the government to expedite the process of vaccination for the age group 18 years and under before the outbreak of third wave pandemic.
