Ukhrul: Khashim Vashum, minister of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry & Transport, government of Manipur on Tuesday appealed for the early return of peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying programme at Ukhrul headquarters, minister Khasim stated that “mobile internet services will resume in the districts of Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul. Government has initiated the opening of mobile towers on a trial basis in those districts headquarters which have not been affected by violence due to the current crisis.”

Minister Khashim Vashum continued that “since most of the technicians and experts are from the valley, the concerned authority is trying to activate the mobile towers with the available technicians. The government is doing every possible way to resume mobile internet service in those districts that are not affected by violence.”
Minister Khashim Vashum also stated that “the result of the interview taken on 2021 for the appointment of 190 posts of Assistant Professor for government colleges of Manipur will be declared soon in a few days and appeal to the agitating student organisation to understand the problems and suffering faced by all the people of Manipur because of the ongoing crisis and appeal to the people of Manipur to contribute to bringing peace and normalcy at the earliest.”

Mobile towers at a few selected places have been activated at Ukhrul headquarters since Monday. People could be seen coming out and surfing the internet on the streets of the town.
Meanwhile, Raphei Katamnao Long-the apex student body of the northern part of Ukhrul district has appealed to the government to operationalise mobile internet service in the area of Chingai sub-division, Jessami sub-division and part of Ukhrul sub-division which falls under the jurisdiction of Raphei. RKL president Somipam Vashum, in a press release, stated that “Raphei area is very peaceful and unaffected by the ongoing crisis.”
