Ukhrul: The Katho Katamnao Long, a local students’union is all set to celebrate its General Conference cum Sports Meet from January 23 till 30 at Nungou Aze village. The event will be hosted by Nungou Aze Katamnao Long under the theme “Heritage of Oneness.” The inaugural function is set at 10:30 am on January 24, Wednesday.

Among the dignitaries for the upcoming event, Ram Muivah, IAS (Retd) MLA, 44-AC Ukhrul District; K Timothy Zimik, IRS (Retd) Principal chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ministry of Finance (Revenue) Government of India; and Wungnaoyung Sayai, CAO, Wung Tangkhul Region will be the chief guests for the 8-day event.

The General Conference Speakers are Fillson Y Lunghar Pioneer, KKL; Rev. Alex Shangh, Pastor, Shangshak Phunghon B/C; and Sosoring Shinglai, Lecturer, IMS, Nagaland, besides several Special Invitees from All Naga Studennts’ Association Manipur, Tangkhul Student Unions and Civil bodies from all the four regions of the district.
Among the many event highlights are the Inaugural, Cultural and Valedictory activities which includes Debate and Choreography, Quiz and Traditional Attire Show, Lungchan Laa competition, Extempore Speech, Body Building show and Games and Sports.

The Katho Students’ Union President Mashungmi Zingkhai informed this correspondent that a warm welcome is extended to all for the upcoming General Conference cum Sports Meet. While he urged for everyone’s cooperation and coordination in making the event a big success, he also informed that alcohol, use of intoxicants during the 8-day event will be strictly prohibited.
Mashungmi also informed that registration for Games and Sports fee is set at Rs 2000, Delegates Rs 50 per head and Disciplinary deposit Rs 1000 (refundable).
