Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh who went to Delhi on Monday returned to Imphal on Tuesday. It was not clear about the reasons why the chief minister and the BJP leaders were in a rush since the past two days.
The chief minister accompanied by state BJP president Prof S Tikendra left Imphal for New Delhi on Monday. They returned to Imphal on Tuesday afternoon. BJP national vice president Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda and Rajat Sethi also came to Imphal on Tuesday.
The purpose of the visit of the two Central leaders is not known for the time being. However, a highly reliable source close to the BJP said that their visit in the state might have been related to the speculated ministry reshuffle and the by-election in the state.
The source said that on Monday the Manipur chief minister and the Manipur unit BJP president had a marathon meeting with party national president JP Nadda in New Delhi. The meeting commenced from around 4 pm and lasted till 9 pm, the source maintained. What was discussed was not known.
