AIZAWL: It was another huge spike for Mizoram when the state recorded 107 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

According to the Health department, the fresh cases were detected when 1905 samples were tested for COVID-19. Among the fresh cases is a 2-month old baby.
The Health department then said the latest update took the COVID-19 tally of the state to 1692 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, another official report said 759 samples were tested with the help of RT-PCR machines, 1059 samples were tested using Rapid Antigen Test and 87 samples were tested with TrueNat machines. All the samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

The report said that 106 were confirmed for COVID-19 from the 759 samples tested with the help of RT-PCR while one case was confirmed by using the Rapid Antigen Test. All the fresh cases are from Aizawl district.
Meanwhile, the lockdown in Aizawl Municipal Area was lifted.
On September 11, the Mizoram government had to impose a lockdown in the Municipal area of the state capital Aizawl following the surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state capital.

However, compared to other Northeastern states, Mizoram’s COVID-19 tally is very low. The state has also not reported any COVID-19 related fatality case till date.

It can be noted here that the state government had expressed concern recently with regard to the availability of facilities to address the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state.
