The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson K Meghachandra Singh, in a press conference held at Congress Bhavan, Imphal on Thursday condemned the present government for the cancellation of cabinet meeting at Kamjong due to be held on December 16, terming it was an unfortunate incident which will remain in the history of Manipur forever.
Keisham Meghachandra Singh further said, “a cabinet meeting cancellation at Kamjong due to an obstruction that came from United Naga Council (UNC), a civil society organisation, without any reason was miserable.”
MPCC questioned the dignity of N Biren Singh’s BJP government for its claim on the improved law and order situation of the state.
MPCC spokesperson, reminded of the former Chief Minister, Rishang Keishing who had held cabinet meeting in the hill district, while the difference in N Biren Singh who called off the scheduled meeting at Kamjong due to intervention of a civil orgainsation, and questioned “what is the reason behind this postponement of the cabinet meeting?”
Putting the onus on the present government, K Meghachandra argued “if a cabinet meeting was to be held in the valley areas and one of the civil society organisations of the valley oppose it, will the government do the same?” He maintained that “calling off the meeting has shown that the BJP government is weak. It has also shown that the present government has no morality in ruling the state.”
He further maintained that BJP government media reports of developmental achievements are nothing but advertisement, adding that the present government is attempting to torture Congress party with false accusation for speaking up for the betterment of the state.
K Meghachandra challenged, “I request all the people of this state to justify if there is any mistake in what we are saying.”
He then said that “all the promises of the present government have broken up by the government itself. And when we, the opposition party, point it out for the sake of the people, they put the blame on us. Whatever we say is being cut off by the government and what they say is cut off by civil society organisations. This is the dignity of the state. Should we call this a good governance?” the MLA rued.
The MPCC spokesperson “appealed to the N Biren’s government to complete all the works they had promised, to bring out the value of Go To Hills Scheme.” It then pressed on the BJP government to hold the pending cabinet meeting at Kamjong at the earliest to “bring back the dignity of the government.”
