Reiterating against the inaction of the state Govt over school up-gradation in Senapati, the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) which is the student apex body in the district come out strongly for not taking up any action till date. This was announced by Pung Mark, President, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) in a press conference held in the district student body office.

The student leader stated to come out strongly against the non implementation of the cabinet decision over conversion of the present Senapati Aided Junior High School to a full-fledged Govt High School.

In this connection, Commissioner of Education (S), Govt of Manipur had officially issued an order to materialise into action for necessary process. However, the district student body is disappointed to see that the education department has not taken up any concrete step till date including construction or recruitment process. The district apex student body is not happy with the inaction of the concerned department where the student body is concerned for the welfare of the district student community.

Surprisingly, Senapati is the only district without full-fledged Govt High School in the district headquarters. Pung Mark lamented that they were expecting to start functioning of the necessary processes as soon as the order had been issued. However, the student body reportedly started to worry if it could materialise in reality while urging the state Govt to materialise as soon as possible so as to see the next academic session would begin in full swing.

While appreciating the decision taken up by the state cabinet, the Senapati District Students Association further appeals the concerned department to expedite the process at the earliest or the student body might be compelled to take into any form of democratic agitation to let the grievances of the student community be addressed.

Mention may be made that T. Ranjit Singh, Commissioner, Education (S), Govt of Manipur in the name of Governor had earlier issued an official order stating the Governor of Manipur is pleased to accord approval to the conversion of Senapati Aided Junior High School into Senapati Govt. Upper Primary School and further to the up-gradation of the Senapati Govt Upper Primary School to Senapati Govt. High School with immediate effect in pursuance of State Cabinet decision taken on 26-09-2019.

Further, approval is accorded to creation of 21 (Twenty one) posts (Teaching and non-teaching) in the newly up-graded Senapati Govt. High School temporarily for the period upto 29-02-2020. In addition, absorption of 4 (four) qualified approved teachers and regularisation and absorption of 6 (six) qualified unapproved teachers of the erstwhile Senapati Aided Junior High School was also approved.

Finally, it was also ordered that all the existing infrastructure and assets of Senapati Aided Junior High School to be transferred to Govt free of all encumbrances by School Management Committee, the order stated. Moreover, it issues with the concurrence of Finance Department (PIC) vide their U.O. No. 171/2019-2020/FD(PIC) dated 20-11-2019 in this regard. The same copy was reportedly handed over to all concerned department but the student body has stated to find nothing is materialise in this connection till date.
